🇺🇸✨ Celebrating Freedom & Heritage Through Handmade Decor
✨ Celebrating Freedom & Heritage Through Handmade Decor
As we prepare to celebrate the 4th of July, Juneteenth, Memorial Day, and Veteran’s Day, these holidays mean so much more to me than fireworks and gatherings. They remind me of the strength and faith of our ancestors who fought, prayed, and sacrificed so we could stand in the freedom we have today.
When I think about these days, I think about the resilience of those who came before us—those who endured hardships I can’t imagine so that I could live, build, and dream in a country they helped shape. Every wreath I create during this season is made with that in mind. It’s my way of honoring their courage, celebrating their faith, and reminding myself—and all of us—to never take these freedoms for granted.
How Wreaths and Decor Remind Us of Freedom and Heritage
For me, wreaths aren’t just decorations—they are reminders. Each time we hang a wreath on our door, we declare that our home is a place of faith, family, and gratitude for the freedom we enjoy. When neighbors pass by, or when we walk through the door after a long day, seeing that wreath reminds us of the sacrifices made by those before us. It reminds us that freedom isn’t free, and we have a responsibility to honor and build on the legacy left for us.
Colors matter too. Red, white, and blue reflect our love for this country, honoring those who served and those who continue to protect the freedoms we have. Red for valor and the blood that was shed, white for purity and hope, and blue for justice and perseverance.
For Juneteenth, the colors red, black, and green hold deep meaning. Red symbolizes the blood and sacrifice of our ancestors, black represents the strength and resilience of our people, and green stands for the rich land and new growth that freedom allows us to embrace.
When I create these wreaths, I think about all of this. I think about how each ribbon, bow, and sign carries a message of freedom and heritage into our homes, helping us honor the past while celebrating the present.
Handcrafting with Intention: Faith, Freedom, and Family
Every wreath I create starts with prayer and intention. Before I cut the first ribbon or place the first bow, I think about the home it will hang on and the family it will greet each day. I ask God to bless that home with peace, protection, and love.
As I weave in each layer of ribbon—whether it’s the bold red, white, and blue for patriotic holidays or the red, black, and green for Juneteenth—I think about the freedom we have and the faith that has carried our people through generations. The burlap reminds me of our roots, and the bows reflect the joy we can still find, even in challenging times. Each sign I add, like “God Bless America,” isn’t just decoration; it’s a declaration of gratitude and a reminder of God’s faithfulness.
Making these wreaths is my way of celebrating faith, freedom, and family while sharing a piece of my heart with others. I believe decor can do more than make a home pretty; it can create a spirit of gratitude and a reminder to honor the positions our ancestors fought to secure for us.
Bringing Freedom & Heritage into Your Home
Decorating for these holidays can become a beautiful family tradition that goes beyond the surface. Hanging a wreath on your front door is a simple way to let the world know you honor freedom and faith in your home. You can add table decor with small flags, candles in red, white, and blue, or a Juneteenth table runner in red, black, and green to spark conversations about what these colors mean and why we celebrate.
Banners on your porch or over your mantle can add a festive touch, reminding your family of the sacrifices made so we can gather, worship, and live in freedom today.
Involve your family by letting the kids help hang the wreath or place small flags in your flower pots. Share stories about your ancestors or loved ones who served, and pray together, thanking God for His faithfulness to your family and community. These moments become traditions that help keep the spirit of freedom and gratitude alive in your home.
